Children and Families

Enchant your child with the wild world of entomology!

Join us in our incredible Insectarium & Butterfly Pavilion where the pages of your child’s science books spring to life in the shimmering shades of butterfly wings, the creepy crawling movements of cockroaches, and the unbelievable camouflage of the Macleay’s Spectre stick insects.

You are welcome to visit and take an unguided through our unique exhibits representing species from all over the world, or you can take advantage of one of our structured program below, or you can enjoy a guided tour where our knowledgeable staff will wow your kid with fun arthropod facts.

Our museum will surely create a shared memory you and your children will never forget. (Especially if Mom or Dad holds Rosie the tarantula!)

We also have family memberships so you can come back all year.

Available Programs:

Junior Entomologist

Our Junior Entomologist program, designed by our Education Coordinator, will thrill your young scientist with curious facts, interactions with critters, & tasks. Our program will teach your child about the natural world through interactive puzzles, games, & challenges.

Stop by the front desk and ask about our Junior Entomologist program!

Scavenger Hunt

Engage your child with a fun (but educational!) scavenger hunt that will have them searching for unique insects throughout our museum.

Stop by the front desk when you arrive and we’ll get you set up for an unforgettable hunt!

Critter Crafts

Have fun with your child creating a critter craft! Our crafts ensure your child goes home with a special creation to remember their time at the Insectarium & Butterfly Pavilion.

The crafts change regularly so stop by the front desk on your way in or give us a call to see what the day’s craft is!
